Bingo is Back in Downtown Las Vegas !

Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel is a casino and hotel located in downtown Las Vegas. The resort is named after its legendary founder Benny Binion. Binion was one of Las Vegas’s most colorful figures and made the transition from criminal to multimillionaire. The resort is often referred to by locals by its former name Binion’s Horseshoe. For years Binion’s and many other casinos in Las Vegas offered high stakes bingo games but the games declined until recently.

The explosion of online bingo has created a whole new generation of bingo fans. For years bingo was absent from the strip and downtown Las Vegas but all that is changing. The common perception is that nothing ever changes in downtown Las Vegas. While there may not be fancy new hotels downtown is experiencing some subtle changes. Earlier in this year the only bingo room was moved to the Las Vegas Club Hotel and Casino. In February of this year the new bingo room at Binion’s opened for operations. Bingo news and gambling sources say Binion’s decided to open a new bingo room because of increased interest in bingo prompted by internet bingo.

A spokesperson for the hotel and casino said that the move is part of wider plans by TLC Casino Enterprises which owns the resort. Spokesperson Lea Robinson said that bingo players tend to spend time playing slot machines in addition to playing bingo. In the UK figures would tend to bear this out and many UK bingo halls depend on slot machine revenues to remain in business. Other downtown casinos have followed Binion’s lead and plan to offer bingo games as part of the casino experience. Available games, buy ins and payoffs may be found on Binion’s website.

According to bingo news sources there have already been several big winners at Binion’s bingo. Binion’s features $5,000, $25,000 and $25,000. Binion’s has been making Las Vegas history since 1951 when Benny Binion purchased 128 Fremont Street for the site of his new casino. Binion’s has 80,000 square feet of gaming space with about 800 slot machines and video poker machines, 35 table games and the Hall of Fame Poker Room.
