The decision of several states to allow online gambling has European gaming firms sitting up and taking notice of recent developments. So far three states have legalized internet gambling; Delaware, New Jersey and Nevada. At least ten other states are in the process of discussing or passing laws that will legalize intra state online gaming. Probability, a leading British manufacturer of mobile casino games and applications, is engaged in advanced talks with potential American partners. Many European gaming companies believe that internet gaming will expand in the United States during the next two or three years.

Probability CEO Charles Cohen told reporters from Reuters that within a couple of years about half of the US population will live in a state or close to a state that allows real money gambling on smart phones and computers. Cohen, a former political speechwriter, co-founded Probability in 2004. Cohen said that his gaming firm is “getting a lot of interest from US companies.” Cohen said his company plans to add one more European country this year and said the company plans to enter France, Spain, Sweden and Denmark.

Mobile Gaming Firms Hope to Enter US Mobile Market Gaming Nevada’s interactive gaming law allows companies licensed in the state to host internet gambling services for out of state websites. This will create a nationwide framework for internet gambling despite the failure of federal efforts to establish a regulatory framework for online gaming. The changing US legal environment has causes many European gaming firms to turn their attention towards the American market which is already worth billions annually. In Nevada British firm 888 Holdings is the first offshore firm to receive a Nevada interactive gaming license. Once online gaming is legal mobile gaming is sure to follow.
